Nick has worked on public commissions as well as historic buildings and carvings. He has an extensive portfolio of portrait commissions in both public and private collections.  He works in marble, stone, slate, onyx, clay, plaster and bronze.

Following a degree in sculpture he went on to specialised training in stone carving at Weymouth & Portland College.  This led to more training with Treasure & Sons of Ludlow restoring listed historic buildings.

Nick has extensive experience in seeing projects through from the beginning to final carving including planning, design, visualisation and maquette work. His trademark is his ability to work with clients enthusiastically and sympathetically meeting deadlines through careful scheduling.

In 2009 he began working with rarer types of onyx and marble restoring antique sculptures for some of the major auction houses in the UK.

He is experienced in copy carving or sculpting in clay from photographic reference.

Nick has a workshop in south Manchester and undertakes commissions nationally and overseas.

Tim Crawley is a stone carver, sculptor and designer and has been fortunate to have worked on many of England’s most famous stone buildings. Tim is experienced in large-scale architectural stone carving projects, from the design stage, which generally involves the production of drawings and models, through to the carving process and finally to installation.

Examples of Work

The Chapter House, one of London’s oldest buildings and once a meeting place for the early House of Commons in medieval times, has undergone a major repair and conservation project led by English Heritage.

A team of 20 master carvers and stonemasons have been cleaning, repairing and conserving badly-weathered gargoyles, stone floral friezes, flying buttresses and stained glass windows over an 18 month period.

The Listed Property Show is a free event for select listed property owners, designed to banish all your domestic nightmares and ensure another 12 months of healthy home-ownership. For February 2012 they’ve bought together the industry’s best, all under one glorious roof in London’s Olympia.

They’ve got them all in one place for just two days in Central London.
